Tales from the Beyond...My Cousin Deborah

Today I was thinking a lot about my cousin Deborah.  Deb passed away early last spring at a young age.  She was only 44 years old.  I miss her.  She lived across the street from me and we spent quite a bit of time together in her last few years.  This is her picture.
Deb was a fellow fan of the crooners like Morrissey, Depeche  Mode and so on!  Most of our visits involved singing Morrissey songs.  One of our favorites was Hair Dresser on Fire.  I made a video for memorial service.
Deb was a pretty strong person who faced and overcame many health challenges before being diagnosed with cancer.  I love her and miss her, but I am glad she no longer has to fight those challenges and is in a better place.

10 Facts About Me

1.  I am a mom. My son's name is Justin and I love him to pieces.  He is almost 18. I have a hard time comprehending that because.....

2.  In my head, Im still 16!

3.  I have 4 tattoos and I want more. I want my next one to be the Stickman Eddie I want it on my lower back.
Stickman Eddie!

4.  I still love 90's grunge music and even what the bands from that era play today.  Especially Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell.  They have beautiful voices!

5.  I don't like the name Tina.  It feels like I only have half of a name. It will always sound like you are referring to a 6 year old when you are referring to me.  The only thing that really rhymes with it is Ballerina.

6.  I miss my friends.  All of them.  Everyone of them has a uniquely wonderful quality that adds to my life.

7.  I love to read.  I love my e-reader.  Two of my favorite books are Pride and Prejudice and Wuthering Heights (a book I hated in high school because I didn't understand it then.)

8.  My favorite movies are classic love stories, like Pride and Prejudice, dramas like, The Secret Life of Bees or romantic comedies like Leap Year.

9.  I love to travel and I wish I could teleport to different places constantly.

10. I'm told that I always look like nothing ever phases me. I wonder if my poker face could come in handy at a casino?

Tales from the Beyond...

One time I went to babysit for some friends.  They are the ones who own the farm I took my niece to when she came to visit. (Click here for that post!)  They have a little goat named Lucy-Tasha.  When Lucy-Tasha was born, she was rejected by her mother because she was born with a birth defect.  She has disfigured ears.  I think it gives her character and adds to her charm.
Because her mother rejected her, Lily, the owner had to bring her into the house so that all the other goats (including her mother) didn't try to kill her. Lucy-Tasha had to wear diapers while she was in the house, and it goes without saying, that when something or someone wears diapers, they usually require a diaper change.
Now before you go getting all grossed out, it really wasn't all that bad.  If you've ever seen rabbit poop, you'd know what I mean.  It comes out in little pellets, and not really an odor because she was only having milk.  It was a lot less disgusting than some human diapers I've changed, that's for sure!  You probably noticed that she is actually wearing a human diaper.  All we had to do was cut a hole in it for her tail to stick out of it. (Done in the exact place, it fits just perfect!)
She also required a feeding about every 3-4 hours, via a bottle that had a big nipple on it! I wish I had a picture of her drinking. It was very cute.  I kind of needed 2 hands to take feed her so taking her picture would have been impossible.

Lucy-Tasha really became quite comfortable in the house.  Even the dogs loved her too!

I think she even thought she may have been human, because she loved to watch television!
Lucy-Tasha is a wee bit older now, but she is very smart. She no longer needs to be in the house.  Georgie the Llama (click the link above) is her protector out in the barn. I think that when I babysat their boys and Lucy-Tasha, we really formed a bond.  That might sound silly to you, but whenever I go to visit, and go out into the barn, as soon as she hears my voice, she comes running to see me!
She's a bit bigger now and you can
see her deformation in her ears more now.
That was definitely a different experience for a city slicker like me and it wasn't too long after that, I went to Kitchener and ate one of her relatives at a Caribbean restaurant! Hee hee!

Tales from the Beyond...Some Good People!!

Where I live, these are my peeps!  My friends.  They are as cute as a button and I will miss them when I move.

Meet Hope (5 years) and Emma-Leigh (almost 7 years)!
They are delightful little girls who have the gift of the gab!  Hope is a girly girl, who loves fashion.  Emma loves to sing.  I think they need to record her for an album.

Meet Josie (almost 3 years)!
Cute and funny, she is the baby sister of Hope and Emma.  I swear she is the easiest child to watch ever.  I don't think I've ever heard her cry more than 3 times!

Meet baby Caleb (not quite 8 months)
It was too hard to get a decent pic of him while he was awake (he moves to quick) on my cell phone camera (hence the quality of the pictures)  But look at him, sleeping like a little angel!

These kids are really great!  I think they get it from their parents.

Meet Justin and Heidi
I stole this picture from Justin's Facebook album!  I didn't have a picture of them. This one's a few years old, but they haven't really changed much anyhow!

Justin and Heidi run the Oasis Teen Cafe in Englehart, Ontario.
The Oasis Teen Cafe, was founded in Oct, 2006 in their converted garage. They have since moved to a bigger facility located in the basement of Living Way Church.  Justin and Heidi are the directors of the Cafe which is mostly run by them with the help of volunteers.  They are doing this all the while raising 4 wee ones!  I think they are pretty amazing people for doing this.  The Cafe has just celebrated its 5 year anniversary! Their hours of operation are:
Tues to Fri.
Gr. 5-8 is 3:30 - 5:00
Gr. 9-Grad is 7:00-10:00

The Oasis Teen Cafe is a drop-in where you can hang out with friends, listen to some tunes, snack out, chillax, shoot a game of pool, surf the net, or just find someone to talk to. This in-town spot is a fun and safe environment. The Cafe is located at:
 142 4th Ave, Englehart Ontario P0J 1H0

The Oasis Teen Cafe can be found online on Facebook or at www.theoasisteencafe.com
